Garmin 405CX Specification

The Garmin 405CX comes with heart rate monitor and USB stick included. In addition, it features the more precise heart rate based calorie computation that is not available for the Garmin 405 series (see all specifications here).

The design has remained the same but its look is slightly different as it is only available in blue. Unlike the Forerunner 405, the 405CX also has two additional wrist straps to fit smaller and larger wrists. Changing the wrist strap is straight forward (here is the video that shows you how to do it).

Finally, the 405CX has a more sensitive GPS system.

Beyond these differences, the underlying physical and performance characteristics and features remain the same as those for the Forerunner 405.

Garmin 405CX Features

The Garmin 405CX is an evolution of the ultimate sports watch and personal trainer. It is very easy to use (see the ‘Using the 405CX’ video here) with quick scroll touch bezel to select features on the run.

This GPS-enabled sport watch tracks your training on any terrain, whether long runs, tempo runs, speed drills or other advanced routines. And you are never on your own – you can train with a real or a virtual partner.

You can even share your locations, advanced workouts and courses wirelessly with other Forerunner 405 or 405CX users. Just select “transfer” to send your information to nearby units.

After your run, simply approach your USB stick enabled computer to wirelessly transmit your data. No cables needed. The transfer works in both directions.

GPS Equipped
The Garmin 405CX is equipped with a highly sensitivity GPS receiver. Its unique design gives the GPS antenna a better view of the sky, which gives it a stronger signal during your run and provides improved tracking under trees and near tall buildings.

This lets you tailor your workouts to improve for specific conditions, types of terrain and distances. It gives a complete picture of how you interact with every section of your run.

After downloading you can share your data with your online Garmin Connect community or evaluate it with the optional Garmin Training Center software.

Track Heart Rate
The Garmin 405CX is fully featured with heart rate monitor and the more accurate heart rate based calorie computation. This allows you to train in a certain heart rate zone to improve your fitness level or compare your pace and heart rate to past performance on the same run.

Cross-Training Accessories
Take your training indoors with the versatile features of the Forerunner 405CX. Pair it with an optional foot pod to track your speed, distance and running cadence indoors when a GPS signal is unavailable. This new design clips onto your laces for easy removal and automatically turns on when you start moving.

You also can add a speed/cadence bike sensor to track the speed and distance of your cycling workouts.
